Pleas Valley assault suspect in armed confrontation with sheriff’s office

PLEASANT VALLEY, Mo. (KCTV) – The Clay County Sheriff’s Office said an armed and barricaded domestic violence suspect was involved in a standoff Monday night.

Authorities said they were called to the 7100 block of Fulton Road in Pleasant Valley, Missouri, on Monday around 6:19 p.m.

When Claycomo Police Department officers arrived, a female police identified as the victim was leaving the home with her children. She told CPD officers and Pleasant Valley Police that a man inside the home had assaulted her and was inside the home armed with a gun.

Police said he refused to leave the home and officers requested assistance from the Clay County Sheriff’s Office.

The victim was not seriously injured in the assault, police said.

Deputies with the Clay County Sheriff’s Office said they are still trying to determine if anyone is still in the home. Neighboring town homes have been evacuated.

Local residents are asked to avoid the area.
