Fairfield couple catch campaign sign thieves on camera

FAIRFIELD, Ill. (WFIE) – In Wayne County, Illinois, Harris-Walz signs have gone missing and a couple captured some of the perpetrators on camera.

Carroll and Amber Sanders volunteer for the Democratic Party and help put up Harris Walz signs in the community.

They said they put up almost 30 to 40 signs and most of them are now gone.

Just this month, their house was vandalized and signs were stolen or damaged in their own yard.

Carroll Sanders says he won’t go to the police, but hopes the people taking the signs do a little research themselves.

“You don’t have to be a voter with a low education,” says Carroll. “The Internet is essentially an open book test and I think it’s time for you all to just come to class.”

Carroll says he’s not worried about his family’s safety, but he says other Democratic Party volunteers fear retaliation.
