Call on Tynwald to urgently review its net zero targets and budgets

MHK says the climate change fund is a ‘complete waste of money’

A member of the House of Keys wants the Council of Ministers to urgently review its net zero targets and budgets and take a ‘more pragmatic’ approach to climate change.

Mid-MHK Stu Peters has tabled a motion for the December Tynwald meeting seeking support for a review.

The aim would be to direct some of the money currently allocated to climate change action to strengthening the wider economy for the benefit of all residents.

This year’s budget included £25.7 million in unallocated funding for the Climate Change Fund to help government departments meet the 2050 net zero carbon emissions target.
