Suspect arrested after alleged armed robbery with bike share in DC

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A 45-year-old man was arrested after allegedly robbing a woman at knifepoint in Northeast Washington while fleeing with her shared bicycle, police said Sunday.

The incident occurred around 4:05 PM on Saturday, October 26, near the intersection of First and M Streets, NE. According to the Metropolitan Police Department, the suspect approached the victim as she was completing payment for a rental bicycle, brandished a knife and demanded the bicycle from her.

After a quick search of the area, officers found a man matching the suspect’s description and took him into custody. Police identified the suspect as Antonio Chappell, who has no fixed address.

Chappell now faces an armed robbery (knife) charge in connection with the incident.
