Liam Payne previously OD’d and needed to be revived: sources

Liam Payne overdosed and had to be resuscitated at least once while in the grip drug addiction, multiple sources tell Page Six.

The tragic One Direction star – who fell to his death from a hotel balcony in Argentina on October 16th apparently under the influence of medications – had made an OD mistake a few years ago, a close source revealed.

Another veteran music insider said they had been told Payne had overdosed at least twice in the past.

The closest source, who has known the singer since his days the British chart-topping grouptold how Payne’s friends and former colleagues were also “shocked” when his manager signed him up for the Netflix show “Building the Band” alongside Nicole Scherzinger and Kelly Rowland – as he had just come out of rehab.

“His manager urged him to do the show and many concerned texts were exchanged between us,” the source said.

“We were shocked, there was no way he could have done this.”

“Liam had become very isolated in recent months by a new group of people, away from those who cared for him and who had been trying to help him for a long time.”

As Page Six revealed, Payne, who was only 31 at the time of his death, was under the care of a new manager who had integrated himself into his life – and wanted him to go on tour again.

Another well-placed source who knew Payne claimed: “Liam’s manager moved him to Miami and away from all his friends, isolated him.”

In the months before his tragic death, Payne had moved in with girlfriend Kate Cassidy, who has since revealed they planned to get married and talk about their future together. She had leave Argentina just two days before his tragic fatal accident.

The source added that Payne’s life had unfortunately gone downhill after 1D took a break in 2015 and he had been dealing with drug addiction for several years.

“He was heartbroken and never really recovered,” the source added. “He was lost without his brothers,” referring to bandmates Niall Horan, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik.

Payne had filmed the Netflix show earlier this year and had continued texting with Scherzinger – currently on Broadway in “Sunset Boulevard” – after filming was completed.

The pair first met in 2010 when she was one of the “X Factor” judges who formed One Direction. In one emotional Instagram post after his deathshe celebrated the love and passion for music they both shared, as well as his “kind heart, sweet soul and character.”

Are not yet known what will happen to the footage from the Netflix show.

The series comes from Remarkable Entertainment, the producers of the NBC hit ‘The Wall’, part of Banijay UK.

Friends and loved ones are now questioning whether Netflix and the producers sought medical advice before signing Payne on as it was well known he suffered from mental health and addiction issues, we’re told.

“Did Netflix and the producers receive any professional advice, and if so from whom, to verify that he was mentally and physically fit to film the series,” a friend of Payne’s asked.

Netflix declined to comment for this story.

However, a source close to the British production said that Liam was a guest judge on the show and did not appear in all episodes and that he found the experience so satisfying that he wanted to continue working with the bands after production.

As we revealed, Payne, father of one, had recently done just that has been dropped by his record labelUniversal, and his London-based publicist.

The star’s body is still in Argentina, where his father, Geoff Payne, is located waiting to bring him back to Britain for burial.

However, we’re told the autopsy is taking longer than expected the drugs the singer used It is believed that they were cut with other unknown substances.
