Court holds man in custody for alleged armed robbery – Nigeria – The Guardian Nigeria News – Nigeria and World News

An Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, on Tuesday, ordered the remand of a 35-year-old man, Shola Michael, in a correctional facility for alleged armed robbery.

Michael, of no fixed address, was charged with conspiracy and armed robbery.

The Magistrate, Mrs. Adebola Adeola, did not accept the defendant’s plea of ​​lack of jurisdiction.

Adeola directed the police to return the file to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice.

She then adjourned the matter to December 20 for citation.

The prosecutor, Insp. Iyabo Oladoyin, had told the court that the suspect committed the offenses at about 10pm on September 16 at Lalupon Area, Ibadan.

Oladoyin said the accused and others in general, armed with swords and other dangerous weapons, attacked the complainant, Niyi Abass, and deprived him of his valuables.

She said the suspect robbed Abass of his mobile phones, Point of Sale (POS) terminals, top-up cards, N3,000 cash and other valuables.

According to her, the offenses are contrary to Sections 516 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State and 1 (2) of the Robbery and Firearms Acts of Nigeria, 2004.
