Local man convicted in child sexual exploitation case

CANTON, Ohio (WJW) — A Canton man who had hundreds of images of child pornography in his possession will spend 26 years in prison.

Brian Patterson, 44, of Canton, had 766 images of child sexual abuse materials, also referred to as child pornography, including 50 images of children under the age of 12, according to court documents. The remaining images were of a child who didn’t know she was being recorded by a hidden camera, according to the US Department of Justice.

Patterson had previously pleaded guilty to multiple charges including sexual exploitation of children, receipt and distribution of visual depictions of real minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct and possession of child sexual abuse materials.

Additionally, Patterson was ordered to serve 10 years of supervised release after his prison term ends and he must register as a sex offender.
