Panhandle man convicted of selling drugs near Kearney

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) – A Panhandle man has been convicted of possessing and distributing dangerous drugs near Kearney.

According to a news release from U.S. Attorney Susan Lehr’s office, Isidro Alvarado worked to sell meth and fentanyl in and around Kearney from July 2021 to July 2022.

In November 2021, the 36-year-old sold meth and a shotgun to a confidential informant. The investigation into Alvarado and his co-defendant revealed that he trafficked meth and fentanyl around Kearney and would send the money from the drug proceeds back to Mexico.

On Monday, Alvarado was convicted in federal court in Lincoln of conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and fentanyl, along with a charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm.

The Sidney man was sentenced to 20 years on the drug abuse charge and 10 years on the weapons charge.

Alvarado’s co-defendant, Samantha Miller, was sentenced to five years in February.
