The Rams hit a bad patch in 2024, posting a 12-3 regular-season record and earning the second seed in the District 3 4A tournament. Their dominance hasn’t ended in the playoff yet, as the Rams haven’t dropped a set yet.

Central Dauphin’s defense was a big reason for this. Libero Amber Hanks and setter Olivia Von Neida were especially great. In their win against Manheim Township, the pair flew around the field, combining for nine digs.

Manheim Township played well defensively in Saturday’s win over Chambersburg. The Blue Streaks failed to repeat the same feat on Tuesday night. Manheim Twp. looked slower at balls and had difficulty serving and receiving throughout the match.

This Central Dauphin group has come a long way this season and now they have a chance to bring home the first district championship in program history.

The stars

Autumn Henry has been a strong offensive force for the Rams, she has over 1,000 career kills and she continues to increase that total with each game. Henry finished with 15 kills and five digs.

Von Neida and Hanks played for the Rams on the defensive end. The two played well against each other, each recording multiple saves in a back-and-forth rally in the second set.

“All those crazy plays,” head coach Josh Brenneman said. “The girls didn’t sit back and chase balls and left them all on the field tonight.”

Von Neida also recorded 21 assists.

They said it

“It’s really exciting. It’s been a long time coming for this group. Most of them have been contributing to the varsity since they were sophomores. They have put in a lot of work to get to this point.” – Central Dauphin head coach Josh Brenneman on what it feels like to win a district championship.
