Three warring gangs in north Clondalkin Dublin have been involved in escalating tit-for-tat attacks on each other in recent months.

Local Sinn Fein TD Mark Ward fears the feud will result in loss of life if gardai are not given the resources to tackle the fight. gang war.

The Quarryvale area has been at the center of the feud, with at least six houses torched in recent months.

There has also been a series of violent events, including daytime shootings, machete attacks and most recently an attempted murder.

Deputy Ward, who represents the area, says the community is in fear due to the escalating violence of the feud.

The Dubliner has repeatedly called for more garda resources for the area in recent months, including the creation of a taskforce to focus on crime in Clondalkin.

Last week the representative wrote to the Minister of Justice Helen McEntee warning that these attacks in Clondalkin are becoming increasingly serious and are taking place on social media.

He urged the minister to make the area safer with an increased Garda presence and a targeted approach to young people.

He said: “I have honestly lost count of the number of people’s homes that have been petrol bombed in the last year.

“We have had incidents of shootings during the day and also very serious violent attacks. A lot of this is being played out on social media.”

Deputy Ward added that a taskforce is needed for Clondalkin, similar to those set up in the north inner city in the past.

He said: “We have had houses burned down, shots fired in the open and machete attacks.

“This has led to a young man being arrested this week for attempted murder. Things are escalating and families are living in fear.

RESOURCES PLEA

“I contacted the Minister of Justice in June and asked for the creation of a task force.

“The local Gardai are doing their best, but they have insufficient resources.

“I have again contacted the Minister, the Commissioner and South Dublin County Council calling for an urgent taskforce, similar to what was set up in the North Inner City.

“If this plea falls on deaf ears, it’s only a matter of time before someone is killed.”
