Hong Kong sauce company unveils sign to celebrate the first 100 days of the city’s twin panda cubs

A famous sauce company has erected a large sign to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the birth of two Hong Kong panda cubs, as registration for a promotional pig giveaway to mark the birth of the twins came to an end.

The sign, built in the style of traditional floral signs used to celebrate Chinese festivals or events, was placed outside the Pat Chun store in Mong Kok on Wednesday, with congratulations to the city’s first locally born panda cubs and images of the company’s products.

The company previously announced its promotion on August 21, where it would give away a portion of pork trotters for four people, stewed in ginger and vinegar, to parents of male and female twins born in the city between May 15 and August 16.

So far, two families have received the promotional treat, with registration for the giveaway closing on Wednesday.

In Chinese families, pig trotters are traditionally served to celebrate the first month of a baby’s birth.
