Former Governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger (R) officially endorsed vice president Kamala Harris Wednesday despite some admitted concerns that Democrats are actually tackling issues like federal debt and crime.

“I don’t really make recommendations. I’m not shy about sharing my opinions, but I hate politics and don’t trust most politicians,” the Republican wrote. “I also understand that people want to hear from me because I’m not just a celebrity, I’m a former Republican governor.”

The Terminator star praised his environmental work during his time in office and since his departure. However, he admitted that he hates politics more than ever and wants to ‘close himself off’.

“Let me be honest: I don’t like either party at the moment. My Republicans have forgotten the beauty of the free market, have driven up deficits and rejected the election results. Democrats are no better at dealing with deficits, and I worry that their local policies are hurting our cities through increased crime,” the actor wrote.

Schwarzenegger and former president Donald Trump have publicly for a long time argued. Trump even took a shot at the action star after taking Trump’s host role about the reality series Famous studentthat he left to become president.

Schwarzenegger wrote that despite his bipartisan concerns, it is his opposition to Trump that is behind his support for the vice president.

“Rejecting the results of an election is as un-American as it gets. For someone like me, who talks to people all over the world and still knows that America is the shining city on a hill, calling America a dumpster fire for the world is so unpatriotic that it infuriates me. “And I will always be an American before I become a Republican. That’s why I’m voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz this week.”

He further predicted that another Trump term would be “four more years of nonsense.”

“We must close the door on this chapter of American history, and I know former President Trump will not do that. He will sow division, he will offend, he will find new ways to be more un-American than he already has been, and we, the people, will only become more enraged,” he wrote.

I don’t really make recommendations. I’m not shy about sharing my opinions, but I hate politics and don’t trust most politicians.

I also understand that people want to hear from me because not only am I a celebrity, I’m a former Republican governor.

My time as governor has taught me to love policy and ignore politics. I’m proud of the work I’ve done to help clean our air, create jobs, balance the budget, make the largest infrastructure investment in the state’s history, take power away from politicians and to give back to the people when it comes to our economy. redistricting process and our California primaries.

That’s policy. It takes working with the other side, and not offending them to win your next election, and I know it’s not sexy for most people, but I love it when I can help improve people’s lives with policy, as I still do through my institute at USC, where we fight for clean air and take power away from the politicians who rig the system against the people.

Let me be honest: I don’t like either party right now. My Republicans have forgotten the beauty of the free market, have driven up deficits and rejected the election results. Democrats are no better at dealing with deficits, and I worry that their local policies are hurting our cities through increased crime.

It’s probably no surprise that I hate politics more than ever, which you probably understand if you’re a normal person who isn’t addicted to this nonsense.

I want to tune in.

But I can’t. Because rejecting the results of an election is as un-American as it gets. For someone like me, who talks to people all over the world and still knows that America is the shining city on a hill, calling America a dumpster fire for the world is so unpatriotic that it infuriates me.

And I will always be an American before I become a Republican.

That’s why I’m voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz this week.

I’m sharing it with all of you because I think there are a lot of you out there who feel the same way I do. You don’t recognize our country. And you are right to be angry.

We’ve been talking about the national debt for decades. For decades, we’ve talked about comprehensive immigration reform that secures the border while fixing our broken immigration system. And Washington does nothing.

The problems just keep rolling, and we’re all getting angrier and angrier, because the only people benefiting from the problems aren’t you, the people. The only people who benefit from this nonsense are the politicians who prefer to have talking points to win elections for the public service that will make Americans’ lives better.

For them it is a fair game. But it’s life for my fellow Americans. We should be angry!

But a candidate who doesn’t respect your vote unless it’s for him, a candidate who sends his followers to storm the Capitol while he watches with a Diet Coke, a candidate who has shown himself unable to to pass any policy other than a tax cut that has helped his donors and other rich people like me but hasn’t helped anyone else, a candidate who thinks that Americans who disagree with him are bigger enemies than China, Russia or North Korea – that won’t solve our problems.

It will just be four more years of bullshit with no results that make us angrier and angrier, more divided and hateful.

We must close the door on this chapter of American history, and I know former President Trump will not do that. He will be divisive, he will offend, he will find new ways to be more un-American than he already has been, and we, the people, will only become more angry.

That’s enough reason for me to share my voice with all of you. I want to move forward as a country, and even though I have a lot of disagreements with their platform, I think the only way to do that is with Harris and Walz.

Vote this week. Turn the page and leave this mess behind.

In a 2023 interview, CNN’s Chris Wallace confronted Schwarzenegger with an earlier prediction that Trump would become “irrelevant,” but the former governor insisted he would still become irrelevant and confidently predicted he would not get a second term in the White House.

“You need the swing voters, you need the independents. And so the question is: can he do that? “I don’t think he can,” he said said.
