True friends are hard to find, says Malaysia’s ex-PM Najib after court ruling on 1MDB transplant case

SHAH ALAM – It is difficult to find true friends, especially those who are willing to stand by you in times of trouble, says former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

In a Facebook post, he noted that many people are fair-weather friends, who are only there when times are good and put on a facade, Malaysian newspaper Sinar Harian reported.

“Life is full of lessons. In today’s challenging times, there are also moments of joy and appreciation,” he wrote on October 30.

On the same day, the Supreme Court ordered Najib to do so is defending himself against four cases alleging he used his position to solicit bribes of nearly RM2.3 billion (S$690 million) from 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) funds, as well as 21 charges of money laundering related to the same amount.

Judge Datuk Collin Lawrence Sequerah announced this decision after finding that the prosecution had successfully established a prima facie case at the end of their presentation.

The former United Malays National Organization president expressed his gratitude to everyone who supported him and waited for the outcome of his case.

“There are many supporters and ordinary people who appreciate my contributions and miss the policies of the previous government,” he said.

“Sincerely, this is what true friendship means. May the bonds we share in this world endure and serve as blessings in the hereafter.” THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK
