The new location of the Shenzhen Art Museum, which opened in November 2023, is a great example of the city’s modern artistic flair, especially compared to the old museum in Donghu Park, Luohu district.

The new building covers 66,000 square meters (700,000 square feet), the exterior walls are covered in white spindle-shaped stone that diffuses direct sunlight and creates a woven, multi-layered effect.

The museum has 18 exhibition rooms, a semi-open air sculpture field, a collection of books, an academic lecture hall, an art library and an event space.

The complex is praised for being at the intersection of technology and art. The lighting system mimics natural light and there are temperature-controlled display cabinets.
