A decision on the appeal against the former FijiFirst party has yet to be made

The Opposition Group of 16 is awaiting the continuation of the appeal process involving the former FijiFirst party, which was put forward by Alvick Maharaj, but there is no chairman of the Electoral Commission.

Opposition Leader Inia Seruiratu made these comments during Fiji Village Straight Talk with Vijay Narayan after being asked about the ongoing efforts to revive the former FijiFirst.

Seruiratu stressed that they are not sure how long the process will take, but stressed that they must carefully consider their options.

He says they hope the appeal process and hearing will continue to discuss issues relating to the former FijiFirst party and the possibility of reviving the party.

Seruiratu says if the appeal is successful, they will have to determine what steps are needed to address the issues raised by the supervisor of elections, particularly those relating to disciplinary matters, party structure, leadership and internal processes .

Seruiratu also respectfully acknowledged the founding members of FijiFirst and its former leader, noting that there were specific reasons behind the party’s structure and constitution.

The Opposition Leader says that as a new team they have learned from the previous setup and recognize the need to improve and simplify processes to move forward effectively.
