Diwali 2024: The festival of lights, also known as Deepavali, marks the victory of good over evil, light over darkness and happiness over despair. It is a major Hindu festival celebrated every year on the Amavasya Tithi of Kartik month to mark the return of Lord Ram to Ayodhya.

According to Hindu mythology, Lord Ram along with Mata Sita and Lakshman returned to Ayodhya on this day after spending 14 years in exile. The people of Ayodhya lit thousands of diyas to celebrate the occasion. Therefore, the tradition continues to this day.

According to the head priest of the Ayodhya Ram temple, Acharya Satyendra Maharaj, Badi Diwali is celebrated on October 31. On Deepawali, devotees worship Maa Lakshmi, Lord Ganesh and Lord Kuber and seek their blessings. Drik Panchang also confirmed the Diwali date and gave the shubh muhurat timings below:
