Jets get one more chance to try to save the season against the Texans

Can the Jets come out of the darkness?

That’s the question as the 2-6 Jets try to snap a five-game losing skid against the 6-2 Texans on Thursday night at MetLife Stadium.

After Sunday’s loss to the Patriotsinterim coach Jeff Ulbrich said the team was in a “moment of darkness.”

Now he will see if his team can get out of it.

The Jets come into this game search for answers after finding new ways to lose over the past five weeks.

“The way the season is and the way this game is, we’re playing a couple of 4-4, some more of 5-3, some more of 6-2,” quarterback Aaron Rodgers said, “(the) reality is we are 2-6, so our backs are against the wall and we have to make a few plays and win a few games.’

The Texans have won four of their last five games, but they haven’t blown anyone away. Of their six wins, only one is by more than six points.

She lost wide receiver Stefon Diggs to a torn ACL this week and without receiver Nico Collins, who is on injured reserve.

The Jets come in as surprise betting favorites. Vegas still needs to believe in the Jets roster and be willing to overlook the mistakes the Jets have made.

After the devastating last-second loss to the dismal Patriots, the Jets embrace this short week and quick turnaround to take on the Texans.

“It’s great to get the taste out of your mouth,” Ulbrich said. “To be on that for six days is hard enough to be on it for one day, so I really believe it’s a good thing for us at this point.”

If the Jets suffer another loss, it will be a mock draw season.

They’re clinging to the hope that they can continue a winning streak and somehow salvage this season.

It seems like the longest of all the long shots, considering the way they played.

“It’s always tough, but I think Thursday night, as tough as it is on your body, it’s good for the mind because you can just move on,” Rodgers said. “(Ulbrich) did a good job of cleaning everything up and then moving on. We hate these games because they last a short week, but we love them because of the weekend. They feel a lot better when you win.”
