Expert warns air fryer users as she answers ‘common’ question: food and drink

If you’re one of the thousands of people who love their air fryers, an expert has a warning for you about a particularly “common” mistake.

The modest air fryer has become the must-have gadget for households across the UK, with many choosing it as a go-to gadget healthier option than an oven or grill.

Finally, when you scroll through it TikTok or InstagramThere are thousands of recipes using an air fryer that are touted as the healthiest way to cook.

While it is true that replacing a deep fryer with an air fryer will have great health benefits, it should not be used to prepare a beige buffet for every single meal.

There’s nothing wrong with the occasional ‘British tapas’ meal potato smiles and chicken nuggets, but it’s important to try to eat a balanced diet.

Air fryer expert and cookbook author Clare Andrews recently talked about her experiences with the kitchen gadget and issued a warning.

She started making recipes in 2020 after getting an air fryer, and fans soon flocked to learn her ways. Now she wants to address a mistake many people make about what they assume air fryers are good for, and in doing so, break the ‘common myth’ that air frying automatically equals healthy.

She told The Daily Record: “While air frying can of course reduce the fat and calorie content of food compared to cooking with a deep fryer, all the food you cook in your air fryer does not automatically become healthy.

“It still depends on the ingredients and the type of food being cooked. So consider the amount of oil you use (if any) and the type of food you cook in yours, perhaps stay away from breaded and frozen ultra-processed foods, and swap for some more fresh ingredients, like salmon steaks, chicken fillets and even halloumi and tofu.”

She also says it’s crucial to do your research before purchasing an air fryer.

Some models are huge and take up your entire countertop, while some newer models are designed to be space-efficient and can accommodate one person or a couple.

She said: “Take time to look at the size of each model and make sure it will fit properly in your kitchen. Consider the counter space before you buy, your air fryer ideally needs 10cm of space around it so that is not so” don’t overheat.

“There are so many on the market now and the costs can be quite high. It is certainly an investment, but in my opinion definitely worth it. The air fryer can save you time and money on your electricity bill, what’s not to like On ?

“So many friends and family members who were hesitant to invest in an air fryer said when they finally bought WOW. I was so afraid to use mine because I had no idea how to use it, or even use it. But then When they started their air fryer cooking journey, they couldn’t believe the results, and most don’t even turn on their oven now.”
