The Forum’s license has been temporarily suspended

A man suspected of taking drugs at a club night in Birmingham has died, sparking a police investigation.

Three people were taken to hospital on Saturday after attending an event at The Forum on Dale End, West Midlands Police said.

A 20-year-old man has been charged over concerns over the supply of class A drugs.

Police said the club’s license had been temporarily suspended.

“The family has been informed and has been in contact with investigating officers. Our thoughts remain with them during this difficult time,” said a police statement.

“Two other men aged 20 were also treated in hospital but have since been discharged.”

The statement said that detectives had brought the matter to the attention of Birmingham City Council’s licensing authority amid suspicions that the venue may have had an inadequate search regime in place.

A post-mortem examination would take place in due course and officers were in contact with the area’s coroner, police said.
