Neighbors ‘heard a huge bang’ at the house where the man was found dead

According to police, the dead man suffered head injuries

Neighbors have described the moment they heard an “almighty crash” near the home of a man whose death is now the subject of a murder investigation. Merseyside Police an investigation was started after a The 77-year-old man was found dead in a house onto Clipsley Lane Haydock.

Officers attended the scene at around 10.10pm on Tuesday (October 29) following reports that a man had been found dead. It was reported that the man, who has not been publicly identified at this time, suffered a head injury.


A 33-year-old man, from Haydockhas been arrested on suspicion of murder. He is currently still in custody and the police investigation is ongoing.

Residents told the ECHO how they saw “blue flashing lights” on the street tonight (Thursday). A neighbour, who has lived on Clipsley Lane for 38 years, said: “It’s really sad. Shocking to be honest. It’s not something you think is going to happen on your doorstep.


The neighbor told me ECHO how the police were parked in front of the house for 48 hours. He said: “It has absolutely shocked us. I knew him well. We just talked about it again. It was terrible. It was absolutely terrible.

“I had gone to bed because I wasn’t feeling well. My son came in and asked me to turn off the television because I had fallen asleep with it on. When he came out of his room, he saw blue lights. He was coming onto the road He looked outside and saw an ambulance outside.


“At half past twelve I woke up coughing and opened the window to get some fresh air. I saw some movement downstairs and the police were there and have been like that since Tuesday. They come and go. It’s heartbreaking.”

The neighbor said their son came home from work and heard an “almighty crash.” He said: ‘I heard an almighty crash and then nothing and went to sleep.’


A worker at the nearby Sam’s Wines store said: “I heard loud sirens and there were lots of flashing lights. The police and an ambulance were outside.”

Detective Inspector Yoseph Al-Ramadhan said: “This was a tragic incident in which a man unfortunately lost his life. An investigation is now underway, which is in its very early stages, as we seek to determine what happened to lead to this tragic incident.”
