Dodgers’ Kiké Hernández trolls Noah Lyles on video after World Series win: ‘Suck It’ | News, scores, highlights, stats and rumors

Enrique Hernández is the latest athlete to throw Noah Lyles’ world champion comment back in his face after the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the New York Yankees in Game 5 of the World Series to win the eighth title in franchise history.

During the post-game celebration in the locker room, Hernández heckled the Olympic gold medalist by telling him to “suck it” after calling the Dodgers World Series champion.

Lyles’ original comment was from August 2023 during the World Track and Field Championships, when he talked about watching the NBA Finals and his annoyance that the Denver Nuggets, who defeated the Miami Heat to win their first title, were described as world champions.

“World champion of what? The United States? Don’t get me wrong, I love the US sometimes, but that’s not the world,” he said. “That’s not the world. We are the world. Almost every country here fights, thrives and puts up their flag to show they are represented. There are no flags in the NBA.”

Lyles’ comment understandably drew the ire of many within the NBA, including Kevin Durant, Damian Lillard and Devin Booker.

Durant got his chance to silence Lyles by being part of Team USA basketball at the 2024 Olympics when they defeated France to win the gold medal, so he’s a world champion in every sense using logic from Lyles.

The MLB has called its championship the World Series since 1903, giving the league at least some leeway in the discussion about what a world champion is.

The most important thing that Lyles conveniently ignored in his assessment is that a league like the NBA or the MLB has the highest level of play for their sport in the world, which is why they can be called world champions.
