Rosie O'Donnell's former waterfront home in Miami Beach is listed for $54 million

Just over two decades ago, David and Linda Frankel paid comedian and host Rosie O’Donnell $16.5 million for this sprawling estate overlooking Biscayne Bay on Miami Beach’s celebrity-studded Star Island, off South Beach.

Now the family of the recently deceased doctor and real estate investor and his former wife Fashion editor and sister of journalist Diane Sawyer, puts the Mediterranean-style mansion back on the market, The Wall Street Journal first reported. The asking price is a hefty $54 million, with the entry held by Liz Hogan of Compass.

Tucked away on a plot of more than an acre, the stucco and terra cotta roof structure was originally built in 1923. O’Donnell acquired the property for nearly $6.8 million in the late 1990s from a so-called religious organization known as the Ethiopian Zion Coptic Church.
