Dearborn jewelry store targeted by masked men in connection with nationwide robberies

DEARBORN, Mich. – The FBI is investigating a series of robberies at jewelry stores across the country, including Mariam Jewelry in Best born.

The suspects appear to be wearing Halloween masks and carrying weapons.

Mariam Jewelry, a family business, was robbed by armed men on August 7.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation is seeking the public’s help in identifying the unknown suspects involved in at least four violent jewelry store robberies. (Copyright 2024 by WDIV ClickOnDetroit – All rights reserved.)

FBI Assistant Special Agent in Charge Christopher Hess said they believe this robbery was part of a larger trend.

“There is information and belief that this may be related to an armed robbery crew that engaged in robberies in both Illinois and Missouri,” Hess said.

The other robberies took place at jewelry stores in Bridgeview, Illinois, and Winchester, Missouri.

“It seems to be their MO (Modus Operandi) that they wear, I would say, a Halloween-style mask,” Hess said.

The FBI is offering a reward of up to $15,000 for information leading to an arrest in the case.

Since the robbery at Mariam Jewelry in Dearborn, the store has added enhanced security measures, including bulletproof glass and an additional set of locked doors to enter and exit the building.

“They have to intercept this network because it is dangerous for us and for other people,” said Ali Alasadi, who works at Mariam Jewelry.
