Delivery drivers have complained about the inconvenience of parking their motorcycles at Thomson Plaza.

Because they tend to rush into the mall to pick up orders, they claim the tricky parking wasn’t worth it. But if they park on the sidewalk outside the mall, they risk being fined for illegal parking.

Food delivery worker Chen, 46, told Shin Min Daily News that the mall’s management installed CCTV cameras on the sidewalk about two months ago, after which many of the riders ended up being fined for parking there.

“Many delivery drivers have been fined recently,” Chen said.

“Because tickets are not sent to their homes until two or three weeks after the incident, some riders were unaware of the situation and were issued multiple, consecutive fines.”

In addition to the CCTV cameras, there are also sidewalk signs warning motorcyclists that illegally parked motorcycles will be clamped and the unlocking fee is $80.

Mr Wu, 33, said there are no dedicated parking spaces for delivery people and drivers.

“I always quickly walk in, pick up the food and leave immediately,” he added.

“Although it is risky to park my car on the side of the road, there is no other way.

“We hope that more parking spaces can be added or that the mall can provide specific parking spaces for us.”
