People who live to be 100 on the beautiful Greek island swear by superfood | World | News

A gastronomy expert has said that raw honey could be one of the reasons why the people of Ikaria could live to be a hundred years old.

The Greek island is known as one of the world’s blue zones, places where people live particularly long lives, and experts are trying to figure out why people in these places live so long.

One of those experts, Diane Kochilas, who lives on the island, says raw honey could contribute to the longer lives of Ikaria residents.

It has long been known that honey, whether raw or not, has a range of health benefits that, along with other factors, can help extend a person’s lifespan.

According to reports, one Ikaria resident said an island recipe containing garlic, ginger, sage and honey was the “penicillin of his generation,” while another called it “natural Viagra.”

Although honey’s potential for sexual health has not been studied, other studies have looked at other areas where honey could help.

A 2021 BMJ article concluded: “Honey was superior to usual care for improving symptoms of upper respiratory tract infections. It provides a widely available and inexpensive alternative to antibiotics.

“Honey could contribute to efforts to slow the spread of antimicrobial resistance, but further high-quality placebo-controlled studies are needed.”

Meanwhile, another study published in 2020 that assessed honey’s ability to help fight colds and flu concluded: “We found that for the combined symptoms, cough frequency and cough severity, honey is actually better than usual care.” We also cannot recommend any specific treatment. dose’ or ‘route’ for taking honey, because we’ve included so many different formulations.”

In addition to potentially helping with coughs and colds, experts at CBD.co have also hypothesized that honey could help with snoring.

A spokesperson said this Gloucestershire Live: “Honey has impressive anti-inflammatory properties, which can work wonders in reducing snoring.

“When your throat is less irritated and inflamed, your airways are more open, making you less likely to snore. Try mixing a teaspoon of honey with a cup of hot water, chamomile tea or ginger tea.

“You can enjoy this cozy cup sometime between dinner and bedtime. It works really well as part of a calming pre-bed routine to help you unwind and relax.”
