FC Barcelona legend Guardiola talks about exit and ‘little internal wars’

Former FC Barcelona head coach and current Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola briefly discussed his departure from the club of his life in 2012and also revealed his hopes for its future, during a conversation with Catalan media channel TV3.

After taking charge of the B team, now known as Barca Atletic, in 2008, Guardiola quickly achieved a six-team status at the Camp Nou, while getting the best out of talented prospects such as Lionel Messi, Andres Iniesta and Xavi Hernandez.

Guardiola won a second Champions League title in 2011 and fled Barca the following year, burned out, recalling some of the reasons that forced him to end it, as he reminded viewers of the El Nou Clam program how dangerous and destructive the “entorno‘ or an environment that engulfs Barca could be.

“It has always been that way, and it will always be that way. It has happened to all of us. Here the shots come from everywhere, every day,” Guardiola said.

“But the ones that hurt the most are the ones that arise from within. There are many small wars within Barca every day. In the end you come to the conclusion that the only thing that matters is convincing your players of your idea and what you think “As for the rest, it is better not to go in to take care of your own health,” he added.

Guardiola emphasized that there is a daily risk of fatigue when trying to find your way entorno described to The Athletics by former Barca press officer Toni Ruiz that he is a “mix of members, fans, journalists, but also former presidents, executives, players or even politicians linked to the club at some point”.

“The contempt for what you do is constant and it ultimately takes its toll on you,” Guardiola admitted.

That said, Guardiola called Barca a “special, unique club” that he hopes will not lose its essence as a team of members despite well-documented financial problems since the turn of the century.

“From my point of view, Barca should not change its model. From the outside, everyone sees Barca as something different. This club exudes charisma, a special smell. What greater praise can you receive?” Pep asked rhetorically.
