Russia is behind fake video showing immigrants voting multiple times in Georgia, national agencies say

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – The FBI, Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) have determined that a video showing Haitian immigrants claiming multiple Georgia voted the most likely result of Russian interference, the agencies said Friday.

The national agencies said Russia’s interference activities are part of an ongoing effort to raise questions about U.S. election integrity.

“The IC finds that Russian influence actors created a recent video falsely portraying individuals claiming to be from Haiti and illegally voting in multiple provinces in Georgia. This assessment is based on information available to the IC and previous activities of other Russian influence actors, including videos and other disinformation activities.”

Georgian Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger previously made a statementinitially noting it was a Haitian immigrant, and saying his office was aware of the disinformation efforts.

“This is false and is an example of targeted disinformation we have seen this election,” Raffensperger said. “It is probably foreign interference trying to sow discord and chaos on the eve of the elections.”

The national agencies also said: “Russian influence actors also created a video falsely accusing an individual associated with the Democratic presidential ticket of taking bribes from an American entertainer.”

This all comes as Friday marks the last day of early voting in Georgia before Election Day on November 5.
