When Hillary Clinton When she moved to the White House as First Lady in 1993, she noticed that some of her favorite items of clothing were nowhere to be found.

“I didn’t know until I left the White House that my staff had hidden some of the clothing I had taken with me,” the former Democratic presidential candidate recalled while discussing her latest book: Something lost, something gained: reflections on life, love and freedom during a book tour stop in New York City.

“I didn’t know what happened to them,” she said as the audience at Carnegie Hall erupted in laughter. “Where is that Christmas sweater? I know I had it somewhere!”

During her lecture, Clinton spoke about the long-lasting friendships she has had over the years, the focus of one of the chapters in her latest New York Times best-selling memoir.

“My very good friend Anna Wintour is here,” she added, joking that it is iconic Fashion editor “has been very tolerant of me and my, I’m going to say, less than fashion icon status.”

Moderator Mika Brzezinskiwho co-hosts MSNBC’s Morning Joe with husband Joe Scarborough, interviewed Clinton about the book, which covers everything from her 50 years of marriage to membership in the “exclusive club of former First Ladies.”

Brzezinski focused most of her questions on what’s happening in the news, especially elections.

“I think voters, as well as Vice President Harris and her campaign, are very, very well prepared for the last six days because they know the polls are unreliable,” Clinton said, noting that she has traveled around the world . country that has spoken to the public in the past month.

“We also know that the Trump campaign and their allies are able to flood the zone with many polls that are very favorable to him. So the most important thing to remember,” she added, “is that it only matters who shows up and votes.”

In a conversation about reproductive rights, Brzezinski asked Clinton, “Am I wrong to be afraid of the future?”

“We should be afraid of the future,” Clinton replied. “If Trump were to be re-elected, there would be a national abortion ban,” she continued. Project 2025, and all the people working to get him re-elected, have a deeply sexist, anti-women agenda.”

Project 2025, she added, “is a roadmap for abolishing democracy. And by abolishing democracy, we undermine not only our constitution, our institutions, the rule of law, but also our fundamental freedoms and rights. “I think there could be higher stakes than what we’re seeing in this election.”

Citing a recent Supreme Court speech by Justice Elena Kagan, Clinton said: “This Supreme Court, which always sides with Trump, may be returning other very important rights to the states: same-sex marriage, contraception, even some rights.” have speculated, interracial marriages.”

Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harrisby contrast, supports women’s reproductive and other freedoms — and will be a great president, she said.

Asked whether a woman could run the world’s largest economy and serve as commander-in-chief of the U.S. military, Clinton said, “The answer is clearly yes.”
