Southern Railway announces changes to train services in Salem division due to engineering work – Railways News

In light of the ongoing engineering works in various parts of the Salem Division, Southern Railway has made an announcement detailing changes to various train services, effective November 2024. These changes are intended to improve the safety and efficiency of rail transport during maintenance activities to guarantee.

Short termination of train services

A few train services will experience short terminations, which will have an impact travel plans for passengers. Noteworthy:

  • Train no. 16811 (Mayiladuthurai – Salem Express) terminates at Karur instead of Salem on 2, 3, 9, 10, 16, 17, 23, 24 and 30 November 2024. Passengers must make alternative arrangements between Karur and Salem.
  • Train no. 16843 (Tiruchchirappalli – Palakkad Town Express) also has short notices. On November 4 and 8, it will end at Tirupur, while on November 11, 15, 16, 18, 22, 24, 25, 29 and 30, it will end briefly at Slur Road, with cancellations for the respective segments. Palakkad town.

Change in the origin of train services

Moreover, the origin of the Train no. 16812 (Salem – Mayiladuthurai Express) will shift. The flight will now depart from Karur at the scheduled time of 3:40 PM on 2, 3, 9, 10, 16, 17, 23, 24 and 30 November 2024, partially canceling the route between Salem and Karur.

Diversion of train services

Several trains will also be diverted to accommodate the works of art:

  • Train no. 18190 (Ernakulam Jn – Tatanagar Express) will operate via Podanur, Coimbatore and Irugur on November 6, 7, 12, 14, 17 and 21. The route will be diverted to Coimbatore on November 20 and 23.
  • The Alappuzha-Dhanbad Express skips a stop at Coimbatore on November 27, via Podanur and Irugur, with an additional stop at Podanur.
  • In the same way the Ernakulam KSR Bengaluru Intercity Express will also divert via Podanur and Irugur on the same day, skipping Coimbatore.
