A third of Britons think Kamala would do better than Keir Starmer | Politics | News

US presidential candidate Kamala Harris could make a fresh start in British politics if her hopes of winning the keys to the White House are dashed this week, the latest opinion polls show.

A third of British people think that the American presidential candidate could govern this country better than Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmeraccording to pollster Ipsos.

Only 13 percent thought the vice-president would do worse than the Labor leader, while a third thought she would be “about the same”.

There was no such openness to Donald Trump moving to Downing Street. Forty-five percent said he would do worse than the real prime minister, while only 27 percent thought he would be an improvement.

Britons have been watching the US presidential race closely, with 49 percent saying they care who wins – compared to just 31 percent who say they care who wins the Tory leadership race.

Trump enjoys the strongest British support among those who voted for him Nigel Farage‘s Reform UK in the summer elections, with 49 percent wanting the Republican to win and only a quarter cheering for Mrs. Harris.

Of all British voters, 54 percent support her and only 21 percent want to see Trump in the Oval Office.

Fifty-two percent think Trump winning the election would have a negative effect on Britain’s relationship with the US. Only 15 percent think a win for Harris would damage relations.

However, Britons are more likely to say they know ‘a lot’ about Trump than his rival or leading figures in British politics.

Twenty-four percent said this about the Republican candidate – more than about Sir Keir (18 percent), Mrs. Harris (11 percent) or Conservatives Kemi Badenoch and Robert Jenrick (both five percent).
