Cam Thomas reflects on a great night after leading Nets to victory

There may not be a better scorer in the NBA right now than Brooklyn Nets guard Cam Thomas.

Not only does he lead the league in fourth-quarter scoring with 11.8 points per night, but he was also the biggest factor in Brooklyn’s surprising start to the season. Friday night’s victory over the Chicago Bulls offered more of the same and witnessed a 10-point closing line from Thomas in a 32-point performance.

After the game, he reflected on his late-game exploits via Brian Lewis from the New York Post.

“Just take over the game, try to win the game,” Thomas said. “Just my thanks to the coaches and my teammates because they always trusted me to take us home in that situation. So you know, it’s an honor for them. So I’m just trying to do my best to close out the game and make sure we win every time. You know, just like credit to the coaches, teammates.

The biggest highlight of his last-minute takeover was a 30-foot dagger of the Nets’ logo, securing the win and sending the Bulls back to Chicago.

“I always work on things like that in the offseason. You never know when it’s going to pop up,” Thomas said. “Tonight, for example, it showed up and the clock ran out. I felt like this was the best chance I could have. So those are just some of the crazy photos I work on in the off-season. So I was happy that it definitely went in because it was like the dagger in a way.”

As Brooklyn continues to shock preseason doubters across the league, Thomas is getting closer with each game to landing the max contract he will be aiming for this summer.
