The New York Yankees’ top priorities this offseason include re-signing outfielder Juan Soto to a long-term deal. However, contract predictions are more than $600 million with others mass market teams are ready to make their sales pitches. So it is not a certainty that the 26-year-old will return to the Bronx.

What could a “Plan B” offseason look like for general manager Brian Cashman if Soto signs elsewhere? MLB Network Shared what a potential Juan Soto-less offseason could look like for the Bombers in a Instagram after.

Their plan includes signing four free agents to multi-year deals that could equal approximately $268 million in total payroll obligations, according to The Guardian. Market value projections from Spotrac.

These players include:

– First baseman Christian Walker (three-year projection of $66 million)

– Outfielder Anthony Santander (five-year projection of $88.6 million)

-Infielder Ha-Seong Kim (four-year projection of $49 million)

– Relief pitcher Tanner Scott (four-year projection of $65.5 million)

While none of these players can produce at the same level as Soto, they fill several holes on the Yankees’ roster.

New York just has declined Anthony Rizzo’s team option for 2025leaving an opening at first base. The bombers did that too linked to Walker in the rumor mill. Santander would take Soto’s place in right field. The club is already interested in him as a backup plan.

Kim would pair nicely with Anthony Volpe in center while taking Gleyber Torres’ spot at second base. Scott would strengthen the back end of New York’s bullpen. They will need to find weapons for that part of the roster, especially with Clay Holmes being a free agent. The Yankees were also linked to Scott prior to last season’s midsummer trade deadline.
