Tim Walz talks about abortion at the latest campaign rally with Michigan voters

Tim Walz spoke about abortion rights Monday night at the end of his final campaign rally before Election Day during a barely five-minute address to Michigan voters.

At a star-studded campaign rally from Hart Plaza in downtown Detroit on the eve of Election Day that included an appearance by Jon Bon Jovi and others, Walz told rallygoers he wanted to talk to them about “one issue in particular ‘.

“Everything is at stake,” Walz began in his brief speech from downtown Detroit. “But I want to talk tonight about one issue in particular that really underlines the stakes in this election. So let me speak to the guys in the crowd tonight. I want you to think about the women in your life that you love. Their lives are at stake in this election,” Walz continued, before criticizing Trump for “appointing Supreme Court justices who repealed Roe v. Wade.”

“And he brags about it,” Walz added. “He’s happy that the women you think about – and love – have fewer rights than their mothers and their grandmothers.”

VOTERS RESPOND TO GOVERNMENT. TIM WALZ CLAIMS abortion is a “fundamental human right.”

Walz complained that women were allegedly turned away from the emergency room and forced to suffer a miscarriage in the parking lot. the work he did to roll back federal abortion protections. Walz also accused Trump of forcing rape victims to carry unwanted pregnancies to term. Such claims by Walz — that state abortion laws have resulted in the deaths of pregnant women — previously earned him criticism on the OB-GYNS campaign trail, which criticized Walz for claiming a Georgia woman had died over the state’s abortion laws during a debate with his opponent, Sen. J.D. Vance, R-Ohio.

“If Congress passes that bill to restore reproductive freedom, President Harris will sign it into law,” Walz said. ‘Kamala and I trust women. It’s that simple.”

Walz did not address other policy issues during his barely five-minute speech, which was preceded by his wife Gwen and Michigan’s Democratic governor. Gretchen Whitmer. Earlier in the day, Walz campaigned in several places in Wisconsin, including Milwaukee.

In closing Monday night, Walz emphasized that “women across America” would send a loud and clear message to Donald Trump” on Election Day in response to his efforts to overturn Roe v. Wade.

“Here’s the deal, folks, one day you’re going to sit in that rocking chair, and you’re going to swing on the porch, and a little one comes home from school and asks, ‘What did you do in the 2024 election?’ ” Walz concluded at his last meeting before Election Day. “And you will be able to answer, ‘All I could.’
