A United Airlines passenger attacks another flyer in a ‘vicious,’ bloody attack: report

A United Airlines A passenger let out “blood-curdling screams” during a “vicious” attack by another flyer on a flight from San Francisco to Washington DC this week, a witness says.

The airline tells FOX Business: “Thanks to the quick action of our crew and customers, one passenger was detained on board after becoming physically aggressive towards another customer.” United flight 2247 on Monday.

“He was just very violent and very aggressive, he just hit the man sitting on the window seat who was sitting in front of me, and it was vicious. This wasn’t like a bar, I’m going to throw some punches. “I mean, this was mean,” Sandhya Gupta told KGO after the incident.

The says the FBI The suspect, Everett Nelson, was walking back to his seat after using the plane’s bathroom when he targeted the sleeping victim, according to the station.

“The next thing I know, all I hear is blood-curdling screams,” said Gupta.

The attack reportedly ended when another passenger intervened.

“Basically it was like wrapping this guy in some kind of hug and the attacker just, it was the weirdest thing, he just went limp,” Gupta told KGO. “This doctor was trying to stop the bleeding, his face was a mess. It was horrible. There was blood splattered on the window… and all that stuff.”

A spokesperson for United Airlines told FOX Business that “the flight landed safely and was met by paramedics and local law enforcement.”

There were 82 passengers on board the aircraft and six crew members. The motive for the alleged assault is unclear.

“United Airlines Flight 2247 landed safely at Dulles International Airport in Virginia after the crew reported a passenger disturbance at 1:40 PM local time on Monday, October 28. The Boeing 737-900 took off from San Francisco International Airport. The FAA will investigate, the Federal Aviation Administration told KGO in a statement.

The FBI and FAA did not immediately respond to requests for comment from FOX Business on Thursday.
