Max Verstappen vows row will flare up again if Red Bull star drops F1 rival during Brazilian GP | F1

Max Verstappen has expressed his frustrations with the FIA after they chose not to punish Charles Leclerc for swearing during the post-race press conference at the Mexican Grand Prix last weekend.

Verstappen caught the attention of the FIA when he swore during a media day press conference at the Singapore Grand Prix. After a visit to the stewards, he was given community service.

This caused an uproar in the paddock, with the consensus among drivers and experts being that Verstappen’s punishment did not fit the crime. For his part, the three-time world champion was furious.

His anger has now been multiplied after the sport’s governing body chose not to punish Leclerc for a similar offense in Mexico City last weekend.

Before the Brazilian Grand Prix, Verstappen said: “People who are objective and close to me, and not just stirring things up… I can’t say the word because I’ll probably get another one… Apparently it counts only for me anyway! Because someone cursed after the race in Mexico, I didn’t hear anything about it, so it’s better that I don’t curse anymore.”

While Verstappen’s off-track behavior got him into trouble in Singapore, his on-track actions got him into trouble at the Mexican GP last weekend.

The Dutchman was given two ten-second time penalties for two aggressive moves on his championship rival Lando Norris and was later heavily criticized by other drivers and experts for his do-or-die attitude.
