MPL Malaysia S14 Playoffs: Todak and RED Esports MY survive the Play-Ins

Todak and RED Esports MY will advance to the upper bracket semi-finals to continue their journey in the MPL Malaysia S14 Playoffs.

Todak And RED Esports MY successfully advanced to the semi-finals of the upper bracket of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Malaysia Season 14 Playoffs after surviving the Play-Ins on Thursday (October 31). The two-time MPL Malaysia champions had to overcome Monster cruel (MV) in a five-game thriller as RED Esports MY earned a good win JP NINERS.

Undoubtedly a contender for the series of the season so far, Todak and MV defeated each other just one in each match until a winner was determined after five brawls. Meanwhile, Todak started their series against JP NINERS on a high note after defeating RED in the final week of the regular season; the same could not be said for MV, who won against SRG but lost against JP NINERS.

Todak struck first blood against their opponent after a brilliant performance on Melissa by Malaysia legend Muhammad “CikuGais” Fuad. His Melissa remained untouched by the opponent until his sacrifice was deemed necessary to win the match, with Muhammad “Zaed” following up Hakimi’s Nolan Momo’s Gatot Kaca opener.

MV made their case to be considered contenders this season after completely turning the tables against Todak in the second match. They successfully picked Natan and Suyou to secure their mid and late match, with Hylos as their support. Ultimately, game two was secured by MV in 21 minutes.

Games three and four almost looked like a repeat of the first two games, as Todak increased MV in game three, while the reverse happened in the next.

The fifth game was an instant classic as Todak secured Suyou, while MV got Natan and Alpha. Both sides exchanged blows and kills to gain advantage. MV then mustered an astonishing defense against their foe, but one miscalculation led to Cikugais’ classic Todak backdoor that ultimately won his team the match.

The next series was a meeting between JP Niners, powered by Maxwell “Maxx” Alessandro and Rasya “Rasy” Wisita, against the established RED Esports MY. The audience expected an exciting show from both. However, what actually happened on stage was far from expected.

RED Esports MY showed their class early on, with the combination of Kaja and Hayabusa working perfectly for them. The couple singled out each member of JP NINERS and pressured them to concede the first game to RED Esports MY in just under 13 minutes.

The second and third games were no different for the JP NINERS as they did everything they could to make a comeback. From Irithel to Khaleed support, everything came crashing down when Natan was picked for RED Esports MY. Ultimately, it was a drafting masterclass that decided the winner of this competition.

The MPL Malaysia Season 14 Playoffs continues with the senior league semi-finals between Selangor Red Giants and Todak, followed by Team Vamos against RED Esports MY.
