Driver claims he ‘just purchased a vehicle’ accused of having unauthorized license plates, Ottawa police say

A driver charged under the Highway Traffic Act with having loose license plates told the officer the vehicle had recently been purchased, Ottawa police said.

Ottawa police say traffic officers using automatic license plate recognition technology in the area of ​​Bank Street and Surrey Avenue stopped a driver with loose license plates.

“The driver with loose license plates claimed he ‘just bought’ the vehicle and just wanted to ‘do some shopping,’” police said on X.

Police said the date of purchase was August 29.

The driver is charged with having unauthorized license plates, failure to change a license and no insurance.

On Thursday, police filed several charges in the area of ​​Carling Avenue and Holy Acres Drive.

The charges include speeding, no insurance and no license.
