Pierce County deputies are searching for clues after the deadly shooting that left one dead and three injured

Investigators in Pierce County are working to track down the person responsible shooting and killing a 23-year-old man in Puyallup during the weekend.

Three others were injured but are expected to survive.

The shooting happened around 12:40 p.m early Sunday morning near the corner of 58th Avenue E and 152nd Street E. Emergency responders found one victim in a crashed car down the street, while three others rushed to the hospital.

The barrage of gunfire woke up several neighbors in the area in the middle of the night.

“We were sleeping and very suddenly heard fireworks going off, and then it was over. We heard cars pulling up and driving away,” said Chris Alexander, who lives near the shooting.

“We were sleeping up there and the window was wide open, and it scared me. I thought it was just kids and fireworks,” said Davis Vinschreiber, who also lives nearby.

One of the bullets tore through Vinschreiber’s fence and hit his house.

“We found a hole in the fence, which then led to us walking over here and seeing that a piece of the siding was missing, and it was kind of like it dawned on us like, ‘Wow, good thing there was no one down there he said.

Officers arrived on scene to find a gunshot victim on the ground outside a car that had crashed into a roadside ditch near 66th Avenue and 152nd Street.

“His injuries were serious but not life-threatening, and at that point we were more or less stuck with no other information,” said Sgt. Darren Moss, Jr. from the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department said. “And then three more people came to the hospitals with serious gunshot wounds.”

One of the three victims who arrived at the hospital died from his injuries at the age of 23. Investigators have learned that there was a party on 58th Avenue that the suspects and victims involved in the shooting may have been connected to, but they are still working to learn more about what led to the shooting.

“We believe this is a party that got out of hand or that someone broke up the party, but again, we need the public’s help to get more information,” said Sgt. Mos said. “We have no suspect information.”

If you live in the area, investigators are asking residents to check their cameras and upload images of cars in the area between 12:00 PM and 12:55 AM early Sunday morning, November 3.
