DEA is observing a National Prescription Drug Take Back Day to prevent addiction and reduce overdose deaths

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – The DEA’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

This biennial event provides anonymous disposal of unnecessary medications at more than 4,000 local delivery locations nationwide.

Deaths from drug overdose claim more than 300 lives every day. According to a report published by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, a majority of people who abused a prescription drug received the drug from a family member or friend.

A location finder and affiliate toolbox are available at www.DEATakeBack.com to make it easy to point to aggregator sites.

Holders are available all year round at more than 13,000 pharmacies, hospitals, police stations and companies.
