Revealed: Disgusting Australian women’s soccer coach barked at his rape victim in three words, then started laughing about the crime in text messages

  • Sebastien Bechaud found guilty of sexual assault in 2021
  • Former model will be convicted of assault

Former Melbourne Victory A-League Women coach Sebastien Bechaud told a woman to “please me” as he raped her in 2021, a court has heard.

The former model was found guilty of sexual assault after meeting her on the dating app Hinge and is awaiting sentencing in Victoria.

As Bechaud, 35, heard on Friday, prior to the sexual assault, he had consensual sexual intercourse with the woman in a public bathroom.

He pinned a woman to a bed and raped her in early 2021. The court was told he spat in her mouth as she screamed for him to stop.

The French national did not react when the woman repeatedly told him she was in pain and he was “hurting her” – instead he ordered her to “stop moving” and asked her to “give me pleasure”.

Bechaud’s victim described him as a “large, athletic man” who was “strong and assertive” during the attack, making her “feel trapped.”

The coach laughed about the incident when he texted the woman after the rape.

Bechaud told her during the assault that he was “testing his limits”, to which she replied that he was “telling you to stop… that’s not consent”.

This prompted Bechaud to reply, “lol giving me your legs means consent.”

When the woman repeated that she had told him to stop, which meant she had not consented, he wrote back: “It was only a few minutes.

“That’s rough sex with a strong man, baby… you can’t even bend over properly so I can enjoy doggy style.”

When police arrested Bechaud in November 2021, he admitted to having sex with the woman but denied sexual assault, the court heard.

“Someone tells me you’re hurting me, I always stop or try to make the girl feel better,” he told police.

“When someone is really hurt and they don’t like it, it turns me off… I would stop.”

The woman read a statement to the court in which she said she now felt like an “instrument of sexual pleasure.”

“I felt like he was treating me like an animal, hitting me and shouting at me to stop moving,” she said.

At the time of the rape, Bechaud was working as the head goalkeeping coach of Victory’s women’s team and also coached the girls’ and men’s teams at the academy before being fired by the club following the allegations against him in January last year.

Now he is waiting for the verdict.
