Passengers of LP 11 safely rescued

The passengers and crew of the Lomaiviti Princess 11 were rescued and arrived safely in Levuka.

This morning, a ship on its way from Natovi to Levuka hit a reef.

There were about 40 passengers on board when the ship hit the reef.

A passenger told fijivillage News they were stuck on the reef for about 2 hours.

He says they were rescued by the St. Mary’s boat, owned by Venu Shipping.

In a video sent to fijivillage News, passengers can also be seen wearing life jackets as they prepared for extraction. Meanwhile, Goundar Shipping has informed its customers that connections to Levuka have been canceled.

Goundar shipping services are trying to recover the Lomaiviti Princess 11, which became stranded on a reef near Levuka this morning on its way from Natovi.

Fijivillage News received information from a passenger that there are approximately 40 passengers currently on board the vessel who have been stranded on the reef for over 2 hours.

The passenger says a boat arrived at the scene, but attempts to dislodge the vessel from the reef proved futile.

In a video sent to fijivillage News, passengers in life jackets can be seen preparing to evacuate.
