Police chase in Milwaukee; a fleeing driver hits a house, 2 children are injured

Three people, including two children, were taken to the hospital on Monday evening, October 21, following a police chase and crash in Milwaukee.

It happened near 17th and Center around 7:50 p.m. The car hit the side of the house.

According to police, the pursuit began after officers stopped a vehicle for a registration violation near 9th and Meinecke streets. Initially, the driver pulled over to the side of the road. However, when officers approached them and began chasing them, they fled.

The chase ended when the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a building near 17th and Center.

The driver of the vehicle, a 36-year-old man, was detained and taken to hospital for observation of non-fatal injuries.

Two people traveling in the suspect vehicle, an 8-year-old and a 2-year-old, were taken to hospital for treatment of serious but non-fatal injuries.

No other injuries were reported. Firearm found.

Kathy Wright lives on Center Street, a street she believes is dangerous.

“I often see cars faithfully racing down Central Street,” Wright said. “These people have no hearts. They are careless, they are disrespectful.”

Criminal charges will be forwarded to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office.

A woman who lives in the home told FOX6 News she was sleeping when she felt and heard the impact. She said she went outside and saw officers present pursuing the male driver.
