An 80-year-old dog walker was trampled to death by a cow in the New Forest – days after a 63-year-old man was attacked by the animal in the same place

An 80-year-old dog walker was trampled to death by an aggressive cow just days after a man was charged in the same location.

An inquest is currently underway following the tragic death of a woman on Monday in the New Forest, Hampshire, from serious injuries.

She was attacked by a cow in Godshill and was pronounced dead shortly after being taken to hospital.

A pathologist will soon perform an autopsy on the elderly woman’s body to determine the exact cause of her death, after which an inquest is expected to be launched.

Following a call to Roger Penny Way Hospital, paramedics were called and the OAP was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police say the death is being treated as unexplained and are preparing a file for the coroner.

A spokesman for Hampshire Constabulary said: ‘We were called just before 2pm on October 21 to assist our colleagues from South Central Ambulance Service after concerns were reported for the welfare of a woman on Roger Penny Way, Godshill.

“An 80-year-old woman was found suffering from serious, life-threatening injuries. She was taken to hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. Her immediate family was notified.

“Officers currently consider the death unexplained and are conducting further inquiries to establish the exact circumstances of the victim’s sudden death.”

The news comes after a man was warning people about the dangers of passing cattle just yesterday when he was attacked and jumped at unprovoked – also in the New Forest.

Kevin Parker (63) from Fordingbridge was on his usual walk with his dogs in Godshill Forest on October 17 when he encountered what he thought was a cow walking in front of him.

He said: “I held back and let it pass. I didn’t know that behind the bushes, about 20 meters away, there was another one.

“As I was walking towards the aisle, the other one lunged at me.”

Mr Parker landed on the ground – luckily he rolled before the cow jumped, with her front hooves landing “exactly where she fell”.

Fortunately, the 63-year-old managed to escape.

In another incident, a young dog walker in Leicestershire also came across aggressive cattle. Unfortunately, she wasn’t so lucky.

Rebekah Morris, 29, was walking her little chihuahua named Zero in the fields near her home when she sent the photo to her mother with the caption “cowz.”

She then stopped responding to messages, prompting worried parents to go to the location in the photo, where they found her.

Emergency services were called but he went into cardiac arrest and, despite the efforts of paramedics, he was pronounced dead at the scene in Littlethorpe, Leicestershire, on the evening of July 9, 2022.

Forensic pathologist Michael Biggs told the inquest that Ms Morris – known to family and friends as Becki – had “hoof prints” on her chest and arms and suffered liver damage, which led to her death from internal bleeding.

Last week an inquest heard Mrs Morris had been trampled to death by a cow.
