New Delhi, Oct 23 (PTI) Pakistan’s Charge d’Affaires in India, Saad Ahmad Warraich, on Wednesday paid traditional chaddar at the shrine of revered Sufi saint Hazrat Khwaja Nizamuddin Aulia in Delhi and congratulated him for spreading the universal message of brotherhood, love and tolerance.

A group of 75 Pakistani zaireen (pilgrims) who had traveled to India to take part in the 721st Urs ceremonies in honor of the Sufi saint were also present on the occasion, the Pakistan High Commission said in a statement.

“Pakistan’s Charge d’Affaires in India, Saad Ahmad Warraich, today offered the traditional chaddar at the shrine of the venerable Sufi saint, Hazrat Khwaja Nizamuddin Aulia (RA) in New Delhi on behalf of the Government and people of Pakistan,” it said.

He and Pakistan’s Zaireen were welcomed at the dargah by Sajjadah Nasheen Dewan Tahir Nizami.

After offering the traditional chaddar at the temple, “participants offered ‘dua’ and prayed for the progress and prosperity of Pakistan,” the statement said.

The Charge d’Affaires and Zaires also paid homage at the Dargah of Hazrat Amir Khusro located in the same premises. She added that Sajjadah Nasheen also wore the “dastaarbandi” (traditional turban) of the chargĂ© d’affaires and the leader of the zaireen group.

Warraich paid tribute to the great Sufi saints for spreading the message of universal brotherhood, love and tolerance in line with the golden tenants of Islam. In the statement, he also praised their immense contribution in inspiring the masses with strength of character and moral values.

Zaire Pakistanis are in New Delhi from October 19 to 25 to take part in the annual Urs celebrations. Their visit is covered by the India-Pakistan Protocol of 1974 on Visits to Religious Shrines, he said. PTI KND NB NB
