Jennifer Fox will produce the Oscars Governors Awards for the sixth time

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is keeping it all in the family, as they have just named Jennifer Fox as producer of the 15th Governors Awards, which will take place on November 17, 2024, at the Ray Dolby Ballroom at Ovation Hollywood.

Fox was elected to the AMPAS Board of Governors for the first time in June, but he is no stranger to Governors Awards. It is the sixth year in a row that it is starting production of this event. The Governors Awards, unlike the Oscars, are not televised but are instead briefly featured in a clip package on ABC’s broadcast of the Academy Awards.

The 2025 Oscars will take place on March 2, 2025.

During the 15th Governors Awards, honorary Oscars will be presented to Quincy Jones and Juliet Taylor, the Humanitarian Award. The Jean Hersholt Award will be presented to Richard Curtis, and the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award will be presented to producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli. They will all receive an Oscar statuette, and this year, for the first time, the Thalberg Award will be an actual engraved Oscar.

“Jennifer is an exemplary producer and we are thrilled to welcome her back to the Governors Awards for a sixth time,” AMPAS President Janet Yang said Wednesday. “Her expertise is second to none, and we look forward to a joyous event that celebrates the achievements of Richard Curtis, Quincy Jones, Juliet Taylor, Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli.”

“I am thrilled to produce this special event for the Academy for another year,” Fox said. “It’s truly a great event to honor the careers of such talented individuals and help kick off Oscar season.”

Fox has produced or executive produced many notable films of the last 20 years, including Tony Gilroy’s directorial debut Michael Claytonwhich earned seven Oscar nominations, including Best Picture. She began her career in the film industry in development and production at Universal Pictures, where she worked on several films, including: Erin Brockovich. Fox spent the next six years producing for Steven Soderbergh and George Clooney’s production company Section Eight, where she worked on such Oscar-nominated films as Good night and good luck AND Syrian.

Her other films include: Duplicity, The Bourne Legacy, We Need to Talk About Kevin, Nightcrawler, The Report, The Last Stand AND Dreams Magazine. As Deadline exclusively reports, the latter film will finally hit theaters next year after being acquired by Tom Ortenberg’s Briarcliff Entertainment.
