FEMA will close the Kewanee Disaster Recovery Center on Friday

KEWANEE, Ill. (KWQC) – The Kewanee Disaster Recovery Center will close Friday at 7 p.m., but authorities say help is still available.

According to the Illinois Emergency Management Agency and the Office of Homeland Security, four sites will provide in-person services, including the Henry County office in Kewanee.

The center, located at 4422 Walter Payton Memorial Highway (US Hwy 34), opened in early October to help survivors answer questions and offer support after property damage from July storms, officials said.

Although the centers are closing, officials said those in need can still apply for assistance, update applications and speak with a FEMA specialist by calling the hotline at 800-621-3362. Applications will continue to be accepted online at DisasterAssistance.gov or on the FEMA mobile app.
