Week 8 recap Texas high school football games across the Houston area begin with district championships

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Week 8 has come to an end and the District Championships are focusing more on the Houston area and surrounding areas.

The Willis Wildkats defeated the Conroe Tigers 63-7. Conroe tied with The Woodlands for second place in the district at 4-1.

Willis cornerback Jermaine Bishop Jr. recorded two touchdown receptions and running back Terri Lawrence III ran for 131 yards and two touchdowns in the game. Quarterback Jack Emerson completed 15 of 21 passes for 276 yards and four touchdowns in the game.

Switching gears, the Atascocita Eagles defeated the Kingwood Mustangs 42-41 and remain undefeated. Atascocita will next face undefeated North Shore.

Atascocita running back Tory Blaylock has 17 carries, rushed for 155 yards, scored two touchdowns and had two nods.

Meanwhile, Kingwood running back Marquez Davis ran for 201 yards, giving him over 1,000 yards on the season.

Katy Tigers defeated Jordan Warriors 17-7 and remain undefeated. Katy will next face the Paetow Panthers.

More importantly, Katy’s defense held Jordan to just 169 yards in the game.

The Dickinson Gators dominated the Brazoswood Buccaneers with an 84-28 victory to remain undefeated.

Dickinson, Clear Springs and Deer Park are 4-0 in the district.

The Gators finish the regular season by playing both undefeated schools in two of the final three weeks of the season.

Finally, Pasadena ISD honored longtime Pasadena Citizen reporter Robert Avery by naming the press box at Veterans Memorial Stadium after him. Avery has made a tremendous impact by embracing athletes of all ages in the Pasadena community. It was a well-deserved distinction for him.
