The KTM 1390 Super Adventure S will arrive in 2025 alongside the automatic 1390 Super Adventure S Evo

KTM has revealed the full specifications of its new 1390 Super Adventure S motorcycle and the 1390 Super Adventure S Evo, which features KTM’s new automatic transmission technology.

Arriving in 2025 to replace the outgoing 1290 Super Adventure series, the new 1390 models feature more power, more technology and a fresh new look.

After spending this year with the 1290 Super Adventure S, we were reminded just how modern this bike is, even though it’s almost completely unchanged for 2021.

So what did KTM do to get the 1390 Super Adventure S ahead of the competition?

Read on to find out everything that’s new.

Don’t forget that you’ll be able to test drive all of KTM’s latest adventure bikes at the 2025 ABR Festival (June 27-29, Ragley Hall, Warwickshire). Early Bird tickets are still available – get yours today here.

New KTM 1390 Super Adventure S – changes to the engine and accessories

The new 1390 series uses a modernized engine in which the displacement has increased from 1,301 cm3 to 1,350 cm3. With increased displacement comes more power – the 1390 Super Adventure S produces 170.6 HP at 9,500 rpm and 145 Nm of torque at 8,000 rpm. That’s 10 HP and 7 Nm more than the previous model, putting it on par with the Ducati Multistrada V4 as the power leaders in adventure bikes.

KTM says it has reworked the current engine’s components and added something called Camshift, which is variable valve timing technology that KTM says increases low-rpm drivability, produces more power, lowers emissions and improves fuel economy.

New service intervals have also been introduced, with valve clearance inspections only performed every 37,000 miles.

Chassis-wise, the new 1390 Super Adventure S has increased frame stiffness, which KTM claims improves handling and “track stability” (if you want to take the bike on one), and also has an 8mm lower and 10mm wider footpeg position. This means a wider leg bending angle and should also increase rider comfort.

The suspension is WP’s latest generation of semi-active technology, which is now “more precise and provides consistent damping at higher frequencies.” Time will tell if this will be different in real life, but it should result in an even better and more stable ride.

The exterior has also been updated with new fairings and LED headlights that echo the design language of the latest KTM Dukes range. There is also a new seat, new windshields and a new glove box.

As before, the 1390 Super Adventure S runs on 19″ front and 17″ wheels.

1390 Super Adventure S Evo and software updates

According to the Austrian company, Super Adventure S Evo is “the most technologically advanced adventure machine in KTM’s wheelhouse” and “simply destroys the field.”

This blurring of the playing field comes in the form of KTM’s new Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) technology, which is new to KTM and exclusive to the 1390 Super Adventure S Evo.

This automatic transmission technology eliminates the clutch lever, instead giving the driver the choice of one of three gear shifting methods. You can shift gears manually using the foot lever or steering wheel-mounted paddles, or you can let the AMT do its job and shift for you, giving you the full twist-and-go driving experience.

Linked to the AMT system in the Evo is the latest radar technology from Bosch, which allows the adaptive cruise control to work even in heavy traffic, stopping the motorcycle at a standstill and veering off track when traffic continues in front. The new radar system also adds brake assist, forward collision warning and distance warning functions.

Radar is standard on the Evo model, while it is an optional extra on the standard Super Adventure S.

Both 1390 Super Adventure S models also get the new KTM V80 TFT dashboard. This vertically-mounted 8.8-inch screen comes with a host of enhancements, including the latest inductive technology for easy touchscreen operation even when wearing thick winter gloves, and multiple personalization options to fine-tune the dashboard to your liking.
