Cymru Prime Minister: Sides share €1 million pot – TNS chairman Harris

The New Saints’ 11 Cymru Premier opponents will share a €1 million windfall as a result of the reigning champions’ European success to date, according to Saints chairman Mike Harris.

Craig Harrison’s side became the first domestic Welsh club to win in the league or group stages of a major European competition by beating Astana 2–0 in Shrewsbury.

They will set aside around €400,000 as a result of that win, while they will also collect around €5 million for reaching the group stages of the UEFA Conference League.

But Saints chairman Harris says the funds TNS would normally have received for failing to reach the group stage will now be distributed by the Football Association of Wales (FAW) to their eleven top domestic rivals as the club advances for the first time then came qualifying. .

“One of the things we have done, €600,000 of what we would normally get if we were in the qualifiers, has gone to the FAW and will be distributed to the other clubs,” he told BBC Radio Wales’ Call Rob . in.

“It’s called the consolidation payment, which is normally part of your Champions League payment if you don’t reach the group stages.

“But instead of us getting that now, it goes to the main pot, and I think there is now a million euros in it that has to be distributed among the other eleven clubs.”
