Sticky Fingers’ New Zealand frontman Dylan Frost faces charges he stole Woolworths chicken and coffee

Frost’s girlfriend, Elyssa Ford, 23, also allegedly stole a Life Savers Raspberry Fizz Stix from the same Woolworths at the same time.

The couple both entered pleas of not guilty in August, with Ford facing a single charge of shoplifting under A$2,000 and possession of a prohibited drug.

Attorney Robert Candelori represented Frost and asked that the case go to trial in July 2025, where his client would defend the shoplifting charge.

Frost will appear in court next month.

The 34-year-old is the singer and guitarist of Sydney indie rock band Sticky Fingers, who went on a two-year hiatus in 2016 following a series of allegations against Frost.

He was accused of racism, sexism, transphobia and aggressive behavior in an interview with Triple J’s radio show Hackingresponded to his past antics by saying, “Boys will be boys.”

In a statement to Instagram at the time, the band said the comments were “in no way intended to show that we are not truly moving toward positive change.”

A month after the interview, Frost was removed from Sydney pub Kelly’s on King in Newtown following another incident The music reported that he was escorted from the property after a verbal altercation with model Alexandra V Tanygina. The Australian reported that Frost told Tanygina “he hated transgender feminists, that he couldn’t be sexist because his mother was a feminist and that he couldn’t be racist because he was Māori”.

Frost isn’t the only band member to face backlash. In 2021, bassist Paddy Cornwall pleaded guilty after a fight with Frost at a Marrickville bowling club, during which he allegedly punched the frontman – who was also charged and later admitted to rehab – 26 times in the head.

Frost has previously said he suffered from “alcohol addiction and mental health issues” and had been diagnosed with bipolar schizophrenia.

In 2022, Frost stormed off stage during a concert in Melbourneand later apologized on Facebook.

In March 2023, Sticky Fingers were dropped from the Bluesfest lineup following criticism of their inclusion.

Also in 2023, a writer close to the band, Nelson Groom, released the book Belly of the beast: on the road with sticky fingersbased on them 2019 tour of Australia and New Zealand.

Frost grew up in Auckland, where his mother owned a club, and the book chronicles their time on Grays Ave and the family’s move to Australia for a fresh start.

“Groom paints a troubled portrait of Frost – ‘an antisocial butterfly’ – he was known to disappear for long periods of time and was often difficult to find before shows,” wrote Herald reviewer Ben Tomsett. “The book goes on to describe Frost being admitted to rehab.”

Monarch returned to New Zealand for a period in 2019, staying in Bay of Plenty and working with Tiki Taane on his debut solo EP, Luxuriantly linguistic.
